Scottish Tourists do the Cultural Triangle!

phew, the time is flying past and so much has happened its hard to keep up. Kids at the school continue to be amazing, keen to speak with us even tho' they are a little foxed by our Scottish accent.

Work finished on Friday (yesterday) and Matt and I took a boat ride down the many lagoons and rivers around the area. Got some great shots of water monitors, kingfishers and other local wild life including the workers in local illicit booze factory. Not sure they liked having their photos taken. After cooking on a high heat in the top shelf we jumped into a tuk tuk and hit the night life in Negombo. Enjoying our first full meal of Sri Lankan food. Spicy hot but delicious!

It was an early half five start for today as we headed toward Sri Lanka's ancient cultural sites. Stopping on the way to take photos of a troop of monkeys. Have to say it was a life time memory moment when I saw my first elephant on the road. It came into view behind a lorry and seemed right at home ambling along the roadside with his mahout.

Going more site seeing and on a safari tomorrow so here's hoping there will be much more wildlife to enjoy!

  2. A tuk tuk is a small three wheeled vehicle. Will try to get a photo of one if I can catch one stationary. It seems that the rules of the road don't apply to ... well anyone actually 'on' the road!
